Job summary

Hawk-Eye Innovations is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (Full-Stack with backend focus) to own backend architecture, data pipelines, and API layer for a new sports tech product. You will work within a small, fast-moving team delivering end-to-end technical solutions from edge ingestion to cloud storage and delivery.

You will contribute to REST/WebSocket APIs, data normalization, and a live insights portal, while collaborating with frontend, data science, and product stakeholders.

Qualifications

• : Strong backend with Java and production-grade systems.
• : Experience building low-latency, high-throughput architectures.
• : Ability to review frontend work with React/TypeScript.
• : Experience with cloud infrastructure and event-driven architectures (Kafka, AWS).
• : Designing and evolving API contracts (OpenAPI).
• : Familiarity with IAM approaches (e.g., AWS Cognito).
• : Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• : Comfortable with ambiguity in a build-phase product.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and APIs (REST/WebSocket) for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
• Own data storage and pipeline architecture, including streaming integration.
• Implement authentication and authorization per cloud IAM approach.
• Provide technical direction for frontend work with React/TypeScript.
• Collaborate with CV/DS engineers on data contracts.
• Participate in architectural decisions with scale/latency considerations.
• Contribute to technical leadership of the engineering team.
