Version 1 in Belfast is seeking an experienced Java Developer to design, develop and maintain cloud-enabled applications. You will work with AWS services, relational databases, and batch processing.

The role emphasizes quality via code reviews, testing and collaboration with product managers, QA engineers, and developers. A strong background in Java, Spring, Hibernate and REST APIs is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years’ experience as a Java Developer in a product development or services environment
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and Event Bus
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), including SQL and performance troubleshooting
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications
• Use AWS services to build and deploy cloud-based solutions, supporting availability and scalability
• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, write SQL queries, and improve performance
• Develop and maintain batch processing systems to handle large volumes of data
• Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to standards
• Work with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA engineers, and developers
• Identify and resolve performance issues and bugs
• Support junior developers through knowledge sharing and mentoring
