Version 1, Edinburgh-based technology partner to global brands, seeks a Senior Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications using AWS and modern databases. You will help ensure high performance and reliability across cloud-based solutions and batch processing while collaborating with product managers, QA, and fellow developers.

The role emphasizes code quality, mentoring, and participation in design reviews, with a flexible/remote working culture and opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong experience as a Java Developer in a product development or services environment.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and Event Bus.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), including SQL and performance troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop scalable Java applications.
• Use AWS services to build and deploy cloud-based solutions, supporting availability and scalability.
• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, write SQL queries, and improve performance.
• Develop and maintain batch processing systems to handle large volumes of data.
• Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to standards.
• Work with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA engineers, and developers.
• Identify and resolve performance issues and bugs.
• Support junior developers through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
