Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Senior Java Developer in the UK to design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications. You will use Java, Spring, Hibernate and AWS to deliver cloud-enabled solutions with emphasis on batch processing and robust database design.

The role requires 7+ years of Java development experience, strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, and a proven track record delivering enterprise-scale software. Flexible/remote-friendly setup may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of Java development experience in product development or services environment.
• Minimum 3+ years of AWS services experience (EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge).
• 5+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency in Java, Spring, Hibernate, RESTful APIs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable Java applications.
• Leverage AWS to build cloud-based solutions with high availability.
• Design and optimize database schemas and complex SQL queries.
• Develop and manage batch processing systems for large data volumes.
• Ensure code quality via reviews and unit tests.
• Collaborate with product managers, QA, and other developers.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and bugs.
• Mentor junior developers and promote continuous learning.
