Job summary

CBSbutler Ltd. is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join a client driving HMRC's Tax Administration Modernisation Programme. You will contribute strong backend engineering, Java/Spring expertise and an interest in AI‑assisted development.

In an agile environment, you will help design and deliver new capabilities for ASAS, including the Historical Records Store, across presentation, service and data layers. The role is hybrid with two onsite days in Telford and BPSS clearance.

Senior Java Engineer

6 Months rolling

£575 - £595 per day inside ir35

Hybrid/Telford- 2 Days Onsite

Candidates are required to go through BPSS clearance for this role

We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer who can bring strong backend engineering experience alongside an interest in AI-assisted development. It is for a client of ours growing its engineering team on a major Tax Administration Modernisation Programme, supporting HMRC in transforming and modernising critical services.

You'll join an agile engineering environment working across multiple Scrum teams, helping design and deliver new capabilities for the Auxiliary Self-Assessment Solutions (ASAS) programme - including the Historical Records Store (HRS).
