Job summary

TXP is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the COTAX Futures Team within Tax Administration, supporting HMRC digital transformation. You'll develop Java microservices, REST APIs with Spring Boot, and collaborate in Agile Scrum teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.

You will containerise and deploy with Kubernetes, write automated tests with JUnit, and contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and modernisation efforts across complex enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java.
• Extensive experience developing REST APIs using Spring Boot.
• Experience writing unit tests using JUnit.
• Strong understanding of JSON structures and data formats.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including containerising, deploying and managing microservices; troubleshooting deployments.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
• Proven track record delivering solutions within complex enterprise environments.

Senior Java Developer

Location: Telford (2 days per week onsite / 2 days per month depending on project requirements)

Rate: 550 per day

Contract Length: 12 Months

Clearance: BPSS Required

Overview

We are seeking experienced Senior Java Developers to join the COTAX Futures Team within Tax Administration, supporting a major programme focused on the modernisation of HMRC legacy services.

You will work within agile Scrum teams alongside Java Engineers, Front End Developers and Quality Engineers to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions and modern microservices architecture. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a large-scale digital transformation programme operating within a complex, enterprise-level environment.

Whilst previous Public Sector experience is desirable, it is not essential. Candidates must demonstrate experience working within large, complex technical environments, ideally within regulated industries such as Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Utilities, Telecommunications, or similar.
