Job summary

CBSbutler is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join a major HMRC-driven Tax Administration Modernisation project. The position is hybrid with 2 days onsite in Telford, and up to 3 days remote.

You will contribute to backend services using Java/Spring and contribute to AI-assisted development within Scrum teams. You will work with Java, Spring, RabbitMQ, JSON, MongoDB, Oracle, Python and scripting, and be encouraged to grow as a T-shaped engineer while collaborating with stakeholders and

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver new capabilities for the ASAS programme within an agile Scrum environment.
• Collaborate with multiple Scrum teams to build backend services using Java/Spring.
• Work with RabbitMQ, JSON, MongoDB and Oracle to support data flows.
• Explore AI-assisted development and system prompt engineering to enhance tooling.

Senior Java Engineer

6 Months rolling

£575 - £595 per day inside ir35

Hybrid/Telford- 2 Days Onsite

We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer who can bring strong backend engineering experience alongside an interest in AI-assisted development. It is for a client of ours growing its engineering team on a major Tax Administration Modernisation Programme, supporting HMRC in transforming and modernising critical services.

You'll join an agile engineering environment working across multiple Scrum teams, helping design and deliver new capabilities for the Auxiliary Self-Assessment Solutions (ASAS) programme - including the Historical Records Store (HRS).
