Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Technology Engineer to provide technical leadership for national operational technology renewals. You will help develop approaches to asset policies and ensure consistent delivery across regions as part of the Road Period Technology Programme.

You will apply ITS knowledge to CCTV, traffic signals and communications infrastructure, guiding planning, design and delivery while ensuring safety and compliance across the network.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in a relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of ITS or comparable operational technology systems.
• Experience supporting the planning, design, assurance or delivery of infrastructure or technology renewal programmes.
• Good working knowledge of CDM 2015 and its application to infrastructure projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered in planning and delivery.
• Lead the development and technical assurance of solutions for improvements and/or renewals of operational technology assets, considering buildability, costs and impacts.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to regional teams in renewal planning and delivery, resolving issues and sharing learning.
• Provide technical expertise to Project Managers and regional teams through technical assurance of equipment, assessment of contractor compliance, site and inspection support.
• Undertake technical reviews of third-party designs to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
