Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Technology Engineer to provide technical leadership for operational technology renewals across the national network. You will guide regional teams, review third-party designs, and ensure compliance with health, safety and infrastructure standards.

You will assess options, compile evidence, and support value-based decisions while delivering across CCTV, traffic signals and related communications assets. Strong communication with stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
• Good knowledge and practical experience of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) or comparable operational technology systems.
• Experience supporting planning, design, assurance or delivery of infrastructure or technology renewal programmes.
• Good working knowledge of CDM 2015 and its application to infrastructure projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and technical assurance of solutions for improvements and renewals of operational technology assets, including compiling and checking relevant documents, evidence and options for value management.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to regional teams in planning and delivery of operational technology renewals, identifying and resolving technical issues and driving consistent approaches.
• Provide technical expertise to Project Managers and regional teams through technical assurance of equipment and materials, contractor compliance reviews, and site/inspection support.
• Undertake technical reviews of third-party designs and proposals to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
• Ensure health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees throughout planning and delivery of each service activity.
