Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Technology Engineer to lead technical work on national OT renewals, including CCTV, traffic signals and communications assets. You will provide guidance to regions and ensure consistency with asset policies and national processes.

The role supports the national Road Period Technology Programme, driving safe delivery and integration of new technologies with buildability and cost considerations. A UK driving licence is likely required.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) or similar OT systems.
• Experience supporting planning, design, assurance or delivery of renewals programmes.
• Good understanding of CDM 2015 and its application to infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and technical assurance of renewals for OT assets.
• Provide technical guidance to regional teams in planning and delivery.
• Review designs, documents and options for value and buildability.
• Ensure safety, compliance and stakeholder engagement during projects.
• Undertake technical reviews of third‑party designs to meet standards.
