Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking an enthusiastic engineer to design and manage ITS assets on the highway network, including the Bute Tunnel. You will lead contract management, oversee large renewal projects and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver schemes under the Transport White Paper.

The role requires knowledge of ITS, highways, and transport policy, with strong communication and reporting skills, and an ability to manage budgets and tender documentation.

Qualifications

• Qualified or demonstrable experience in ITS design and contract management.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to communicate to a high standard.
• Experience dealing with external utilities or contractors.
• Strong understanding of highways, transport policy.
• HNC/HND Electrical/Electronic Eng or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and contract management of ITS assets on the highway and within the Bute Tunnel.
• Delivery of large-scale asset renewal and new projects.
• Provide continuity in scheme design, specification verification and decision making.
• Coordinate and plan work with teams and set priorities to ensure delivery resilience.
• Manage budgets and develop tender documentation / designs.
