Job summary

Advancing People Ltd is seeking a senior estimator to lead estimating, technical design and bid development across complex IT infrastructure projects. The role offers influence over design, bid strategy and how work is won, with a focus on cabling and wireless systems.

The position requires autonomous bid ownership, strong Excel and client engagement skills, and experience with multi-discipline design. Flexible remote work with occasional office attendance 1–2 days per week is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating and designing in technology, infrastructure or engineering environments.
• Cabling fibre or copper experience is essential.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to develop pricing models and bids.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow the estimating team to support significant company growth.
• Lead cost planning, estimating and tender submissions for complex projects.
• Shape scope, assumptions, exclusions and commercial risk to support bid strategy and margins.
• Develop high-quality technical and commercial proposals with pricing models.
• Lead or validate technical designs and surveys with internal engineers and external partners.
• Engage with clients at bid stage as a trusted technical advisor in design‑and‑build projects.
• Contribute to winning bids through technical credibility and commercial input.
• Monitor tender portals and plan for public-sector renewals and keep a structured pipeline.
