Job summary

Advancing People Ltd is seeking an experienced estimator to lead the estimating team across IT infrastructure, structured cabling and related disciplines. The role involves technical design, bid development and direct client engagement, with flexibility for remote/hybrid working and occasional office attendance in the North/Midlands region.

The role emphasizes commercial judgement, design authority, and growth of the bidding function while maintaining quality and margins.

Qualifications

Senior role leading estimating, design and bid development across complex projects.
Experience in IT infrastructure, structured cabling, LV electrical systems, and wireless is valued.
Strong Excel and bid-tools experience is essential.
Knowledge of public-sector procurement is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Manage and grow the estimating team.
Lead cost planning, estimating, and tender submissions.
Shape scope, exclusions, and commercial risk for bid strategy and margin control.
Develop high-quality technical and commercial proposals with pricing models.
Lead or validate technical designs and surveys with engineers.
Engage with clients at bid stage as a technical partner.
Monitor tender portals and renewals, manage opportunity pipeline.
Support continuous improvement of estimating standards and tools.
