Job summary

Advancing People is seeking an experienced estimator and designer for an established Cabling and IT infrastructure business in the Manchester area. The role leads estimating, technical design, and bid development across multi-discipline projects with a focus on IT infrastructure, structured cabling, and wireless systems.

You will manage and grow the estimating team, shape bid strategy, engage clients at bid stage, and drive margin through rigorous cost planning and high-quality proposals.

Qualifications

• Experienced estimator and designer from technology, infrastructure or engineering background.
• Cabling fibre or copper experience is essential; wireless exposure is a bonus.
• Minimum 5+ years' experience with bid design and build processes.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with estimating tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost planning, estimating, and tender submissions for technically complex projects.
• Manage and grow the estimating team; shape bid strategy and margins.
• Shape scope, assumptions, exclusions and commercial risk to support bid strategy.
• Develop high-quality technical and commercial proposals, pricing models, and supporting documents.
• Engage directly with clients at bid stage as a trusted technical partner.
