Job summary

The University of Northampton is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and improve the university's systems infrastructure on the Waterside campus with some remote work possible via line-manager approval.

The role requires hands-on technical expertise across Windows servers, AD, Exchange Online, Hyper-Converged and virtualization technologies, plus strong customer service for staff and students. ITIL knowledge and ability to work in a fast-paced educational environment are valued.

Qualifications

• Relevant IT qualification or suitable experience; ITIL V4 preferred.
• Experience in 4+ listed technologies and strong customer-focused service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide BAU support for infrastructure to students and staff.
• Handle incidents, problems, and requests in a 3rd line capacity.
• Deploy and configure new servers and work packages with monitoring in place.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation and process maps.
• Collaborate with third-party suppliers for timely software/hardware delivery.
• Troubleshoot incidents and escalate as needed.
• Support printing estate configuration and operational policies.
