Job summary

Waystone is seeking an Associate Director – Investment Risk, Real Assets to oversee risk across property, infrastructure, private debt and private equity. You will challenge delegated managers, monitor liquidity, leverage and valuation, and contribute to governance and regulatory frameworks.

You will lead due diligence reviews, support product launches, and prepare risk and regulatory reporting for boards and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Master’s degree in finance, mathematics or related discipline desirable but not required.
• Seven years’ experience in investment risk, fund oversight, valuation or related financial services role.
• Strong knowledge of UK and European fund regulation (AIFMD, FCA).
• Experience overseeing real asset investments (property, infra, private debt/eq).
• Professional qualification (CFA, CAIA, FRM, ACA or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication with boards and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and challenge to delegated investment managers on risk, portfolio construction, liquidity, leverage and valuation.
• Review key investment, liquidity, concentration, leverage and valuation indicators across real asset portfolios.
• Assess liquidity risk and review liquidity stress testing for real asset funds.
• Review valuation methodologies and governance processes for real asset investments.
• Support governance decision-making with documentation of rationale in valuation events.
• Monitor regulatory compliance and engage governance channels for breaches and remediation.
• Prepare and present risk, valuation and regulatory reporting to governance committees and clients.
• Lead periodic due diligence reviews of delegated managers and their risk controls.
• Support launch of new products by assessing risk, liquidity and operational considerations.
• Engage with managers, administrators, valuers, auditors and legal advisers on risk matters.
