Job summary

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join our high‑caliber Internal Audit Team. You will conduct complex audits with minimal supervision and contribute to governance and control improvements.

You'll prepare draft and final reports, discuss findings with managers, and provide practical advice on financial and operational controls. The role is hybrid, based at County Hall, West Bridgford, 37 hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ recent audit experience.
• CMIIA or CCAB accounting qualification.
• Knowledge of internal audit theory and UK Public Sector standards.
• Experience providing advice on internal audit and controls.

Responsibilities

• Carry out complex audits, including investigations into irregularities.
• Prepare draft and final reports with supporting documentation.
• Keep the Team Manager informed of significant matters, including any suspected fraud.
• Liaise with departmental managers to discuss audit scope and outcomes.
• Provide advice on financial and other controls to relevant stakeholders.
