Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking an Internal Audit professional to join its Audit team. The role covers planning, risk assessment, testing and reporting on controls across a range of services, from libraries to major redevelopment projects.

You will liaise with Directors and external auditors, progress through two pay bands as competencies grow, and may travel to external clients. The team offers progression opportunities with professional training.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification or previous audit experience.
• Excellent communication skills and good understanding of customers' needs.
• Strong analytical and report-writing abilities with proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Plan audits: scope, risk assessment, testing and evaluation of controls.
• Report findings and provide sound technical advice to management and external auditors.
• Liaise with Directors and external auditors; may engage in ad hoc investigations.
• Conduct operational audits at PCC's external clients; may involve travel.
