Job summary

Version 1 is seeking aSenior Interaction Designer to shape how users interact with digital services across UK journeys. You will design detailed interaction patterns, user flows, and interface behaviours for complex services, bridging design and engineering to deliver accessible experiences.

You will collaborate with researchers and designers, apply the GOV.UK Design System, and ensure WCAG 2.2 compliance and responsive design across platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing interactions for complex digital products and services.
• Expertise in high-fidelity prototypes and interaction models using Figma.
• Proven ability to design scalable, reusable patterns within design systems.
• Experience with GOV.UK Design System or similar systems.
• Solid understanding of usability, feedback and system behaviour.
• Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.
• Ability to collaborate with developers and researchers.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed interaction patterns, user flows and interface behaviours for complex digital services.
• Create high-fidelity prototypes to communicate interaction logic and support delivery.
• Define micro-interactions, states, validation patterns and edge cases.
• Apply and extend design systems, contributing reusable components.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure accessibility and performance.
• Ensure designs meet WCAG 2.2 and responsive design principles.
• Work with researchers to iterate interactions based on feedback.
• Contribute to end-to-end service design and shared component libraries.
• Document interaction specifications to support development and handover.
