Job description

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Digital Services Systems Development department for a Senior Systems Integration Specialist. The post holder will design, develop and maintain interfaces using Intersystems Health Connect integration engine. You will have strong technical skills with experience of relational database management, HL7, Webservices/XML. Having skills in AWS and GitLab would also be advantageous. You will not necessarily have worked within the NHS and may have gained experience elsewhere.

An adept facilitator and articulate communicator, you will liaise with suppliers to deliver data integration across the Trust. Working closely with colleagues in Operations, IT and other Trust counterparts, you will be required to investigate underlying data integrity issues limiting Trust operational objectives and have proven problem solving skills that deliver solutions. Alongside these requirements you will advise on strategic technical developments to help support operational and clinical areas and work closely with system administrators to deliver the Trusts IM&T strategy.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the TIE, an IT system that is critical to the delivery of patient care in all areas of the Trust, is managed in a way that is fully compliant with Trust IM&T Policies and National Information Governance Toolkit Standards. All system integration, managed through the TIE, must follow industry standard processes to ensure the quality of the data and the system availability is not compromised.

In supporting the TIE, the post holder will ensure that:

  • Policies and procedures are documented, followed and a schedule of regular review is planned and undertaken
  • Actual and potential security incidents are appropriately reported
  • Data quality incidents are appropriately investigated
  • Associated action plans are completed in a timely manner, meeting required specifications
  • The system maintains high availability and all system interruption is recorded.

The post holder will be responsible for providing Subject Matter Expertise as the technical lead for the Data Migration and Interfacing elements of Trust projects. This will include ensuring the completion and sign off of data mapping, data transformation and testing of the migration.

The post holder may be required to develop IT system software, web services and websites and must maintain a good knowledge of industry standards and technology.
