Job summary

Hitachi Digital Services is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead optimisation, maintenance and reliability of core IT infrastructure at the Nissan Sunderland plant. The role serves as the primary technical escalation point for complex system and network issues, ensuring high availability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The candidate should bring expertise in Hyper-V, Cisco networking, and SolarWinds, with hands-on experience supporting production environments.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Hyper-V administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with failover clustering and virtual switch configuration.
• Strong Cisco networking experience: routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
• Hands-on SolarWinds administration and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Manage, optimise, and maintain virtualised environments and server infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime for production operations.
• Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for critical infrastructure issues, including Hyper-V diagnostics and storage performance tuning.
• Support advanced routing, switching, networking, and security troubleshooting activities.
• Manage VLAN configuration changes across core and access switching infrastructure.
• Assist with Cisco firewalls and Cisco wireless environments.
• Own and develop the enterprise monitoring platform using SolarWinds, including alerting, dashboards, and reporting.
• Provide onsite production support and participate in planned maintenance outside normal hours.
