Job summary

BT Group is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Specialist in Manchester to design, implement and support network and computing components for the prisons platform. You will collaborate with internal teams, Openreach engineering and external customers to deliver reliable, secure infrastructure.

The role emphasizes leadership in design execution, documentation, and cross-functional delivery, with a strong focus on security compliance and incident resolution.

Qualifications

• Advanced IP networking including Cisco Firewalls and ACI.
• Windows and Linux administration with scripting/automation.
• Strong IT security knowledge and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Manage implementation of high-level designs for stable network/infrastructure.
• Maintain IT infrastructure components and services per design standards.
• Provide advanced technical knowledge to resolve complex issues.
• Collaborate across teams to implement product roadmap.
• Lead day-to-day support for internal tools and system health.
• Translate architectural designs into operations with architects.
• Document processes and build tooling for infrastructure usability.
• Audit performance and health of network/infrastructure; drive improvements.
• Mentor other engineers and share best practices.
