Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Infrastructure, including 1 year in a senior role.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Practical experience with infrastructure auto-deployment techniques.

Job description

Hands-on multi-disciplined technical role within the IT infrastructure team, supporting the Head of Infrastructure Services and project managers in delivering robust, performant, resilient and recoverable infrastructure platforms; Datacentre and Azure Cloud. Supporting the technical development of the internal infrastructure team, maintaining infrastructure best practice and standards as well as ensuring all platforms are secure and meet all legislative compliance requirements.

Location: Liverpool

Salary: up to £50,000 depending on experience

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday covering hours 08:00 to 17:30 on a rolling rota basis

What you will be doing:

  • A technical lead within the infrastructure team and support the promotion of technical excellence within the team ensuring the highest level of technical quality as well as leading knowledge transfer of new solutions into the team
  • Bring a broad knowledge of both traditional and cloud infrastructure technologies, processes and best practices, and be continually aware of enhancements available within the current infrastructure solutions as well as any shifts in technology and enhancements that would benefit the business and be able to converse to the wider teams
  • Utilise and develop your existing experience to work with and support our Project, Development, DevOps, and SecOps teams for new deployments, providing continual management and maintenance
  • Instrumental in developing, testing, and managing disaster recovery plans and maintaining operational resilience
  • Work within the incident response process providing expertise and support to the support team as required
  • Lead technical evaluation of products within the infrastructure domain, participating in the deployment and implementation of the infrastructure technologies
  • Contribute to the technical design of best of breed solutions, exploiting industry best practice
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure Team Manager and peers to deliver cost effective solutions in line with the IT strategy & roadmap whilst implementing appropriate control mechanisms
  • Work with the SecOps engineers to remediate any vulnerabilities identified

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 4 years’ Infrastructure experience, with minimum of 1yrs in a similar senior capacity or performing senior duties within a team of engineers with a support background.
  • Experience with broad variety of traditional infrastructure disciplines & technologies; network, server, storage, security
  • Experience of team supervision, or mentoring would be an advantage.
  • Practical experience designing, deploying and supporting cloud infrastructure, preferably in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with the Office 365 suite of applications, security, and tools, ideally in a hybrid Exchange deployment.
  • Experience with use of infrastructure auto-deployment techniques; PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform etc.
  • Experience of the development of high & low-level designs and documenting technical solutions
  • Proactive and logical approach to fault identification, troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to articulate IT issues to non-IT people.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL
  • Experience in the following is expected for this role: Network technologies; WAN, LAN, DNS and protocols, Server and storage architecture solutions, Cloud computing platform, principals, and services, IaC and scripted deployments, Perimeter and Endpoint Security, Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, MS Office 365 platform support; SharePoint, OneDrive, teams, Intune management, Working within a ticket management system, Linux Server configuration and support, Kubernetes environments & support, DevOps pipelines, web application development techniques and tools, XML, .Net framework, and development lifecycle, to provide adequate support to the developer teams, Virtualisation solutions, Remote Desktop RDS/VDI environments
