Job summary

Sonovision UK is seeking a Senior ILS Engineer to lead ILS/IPS activities for major defence and aerospace programmes. You will drive capability development, govern ILS processes, and collaborate with OEMs and government organisations to optimise supportability and lifecycle cost.

The role reports to the UK Head of ILS and involves delivering ISPs, LSAR-related outputs, and integrating ILS with technical publications and digital services. SC clearance is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in ILS/IPS leadership roles within defence or aerospace.
• Strong expertise in ILS/LSA methodologies and through-life support.
• Knowledge of DEF STAN 00-600, DEF STAN 00-60, S-Series, MIL-STD-1388-2B, AQAP.
• Ability to obtain SC Clearance and working with UK MOD/DE&S.

Responsibilities

• Lead ILS/IPS teams within Sonovision UK and oversee delivery of complex ILS programmes.
• Author Integrated Support Plans (ISPs), Supportability Case Reports (SCRs) and related ILS/IPS documentation.
• Drive digital ILS solutions, data analytics and AI-enabled support initiatives.
• Engage with MOD, defence primes, OEMs and cross-functional teams across UK/Europe.

At Sonovision, we are seeking a Senior ILS Engineer to provide ILS and Integrated Product Support (IPS) consultancy, driving technical excellence, innovation, and customer value across high-profile defence and aerospace programmes.

This is a leadership role, requiring close working with major OEMs, defence primes, and government organisations.

You will play a key role in recommendations to enhance the supportability of our clients’ products, defining future system support strategies and through-life solutions, influencing design through ILS/IPS principles, Logistic Support Analysis (LSA), and strengthening Sonovision’s position as a trusted partner in supportability engineering.

The role:

Reporting to the UK Head of ILS, you will lead ILS / IPS teams within Sonovision, oversee delivery of complex ILS programmes and studies, act as a senior interface with customers and partners, and support business development, bid development, and capability growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Capability Development

• Implement Sonovision’s ILS / IPS strategy in line with business growth objectives
• Implement best practices through the use of ILS frameworks, governance, and tools
• Act as a senior point of contact for high-performing ILS teams across the UK and European operations
• Drive adoption of digital ILS solutions, including data analytics and AI-enabled support
• Ensure alignment with international standards (S-Series, DEF STAN 00-600, DEF STAN 00-60, MIL-STD 1388 2B, AQAP)
• Represent Sonovision at industry and MOD forums

Programme & Delivery Leadership

• Deliver ILS/IPS principles and analysis to programmes across air, land, and sea
• Ensure delivery meets cost, schedule, and technical performance targets
• Provide senior oversight of key ILS outputs including ISP, LSA OM and maintenance strategies
• Author Integrated Support Plans (ISPs), Supportability Case Reports (SCRs) and all ILS/IPS technical documentation/plans
• Influence system design decisions to optimise availability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost
• Produce LSAR data sets by means of thorough product research and structured Analysis (LSA) in accordance with specified standards.
• Identify maintenance requirements, procedures and all associated support resources necessary for sustainment of product in-service.
• Populate LSARs using appropriate software packages ensuring compliance with necessary protocols and standards.
• Understand customer requirements and end-user’s maintenance concept in accordance with customer provided specifications / statement of work. -
• Work with Reliability and Maintainability Engineers to produce an all-inclusive LSAR database. - Liaise with Technical Publications to provide clarification and validation of core data transferred from the LSAR
• Demonstrable experience in the field of LSA / LSAR, coupled with the use of associated computer database system/s are essential requirements for this role.

Technical Authority – ILS / IPS

• Act as technical authority to customer for ILS disciplines including LSA, LORA, FMECA, MTA and RAM
• Perform LSA/LSAR reviews
• Perform deliverable reviews and provide guidance, on specific ILS products, to ILS Engineers and any / all Junior Engineers in the achievement of quality and value for money for contracted deliverables
• Ensure integration of supportability into system architecture and design
• Drive innovation in predictive maintenance, digital twins, and data-driven support models

Customer Engagement & Business Growth

• Act as a trusted advisor to customers (MOD, defence primes, OEMs)
• Support bid and proposal activities
• Build and maintain strategic relationships across the defence and aerospace ecosystem

Lifecycle & Support Strategy

• Define end-to-end support solutions including maintenance models and supply chain strategies
• Support the development and implementation of next-generation support approaches such as predictive maintenance and digital platforms

Technical Publications & Data

• Oversee development of technical documentation aligned with Sonovision capabilities, ensuring compliance with S1000D
• Ensure integration between ILS, technical publications, and digital services
