Job summary

Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT invites applications for a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine. The post offers opportunities for day-time work in anaesthesia or other Medical Division departments, with on-call duties at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The successful candidate will join a 10-strong intensivist team in a 20-bed L2/L3 unit, working on a Consultant of the Week rota and contributing to education, audits and service development.

Qualifications

• On the Specialist Register or within 6 months of eligibility.
• Dual CCT in ICM and a second specialty, or ICM CCT.
• Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.
• Must hold a Licence to Practise.
• Strong leadership and teaching abilities.

Responsibilities

• Consultant of the Week 1:8 rota coverage.
• Join a team of experienced Consultants with support from Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors.
• On-call shifts provide non-residential cover for ITU, Obstetrics and Theatre with supervision of two resident anaesthetists.
• Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
• Lead assessments of deteriorating patients for emergency ICU admission.
