Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering five-star acute care. Applicants should hold GMC registration with Specialist Register or be within six months of CCT, with CESR candidates needing GMC confirmation.

The unit handles ~800 annual admissions, with a strong focus on teaching, research and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and on Specialist Register or within six months of CCT; CESR candidates need GMC confirmation
• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• MRCP/FRCA or FCEM equivalent
• FFICM or equivalent
• ALS/ATLS/APLS
• FUSIC accreditation (or other focused cardiac ultrasound)
• MD/PhD or equivalent
• DICM, EDIC or equivalent diploma in Intensive Care Medicine
• BSE accreditation for echocardiography

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant leadership within the ICU MDT and ensure high standards of care.
• Deliver critical care including management of ARDS and renal replacement therapy.
• Engage in teaching, research, and audit activities to advance service.
• Participate in weekly MDT meetings with other specialties.
• Support regional burns and plastics units and collaborate on complex cases.
