Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with strong expertise in hydraulic analysis to join our Water Consultancy Division in the UK. You will lead design and analysis for water and wastewater projects, including pipelines and surge analysis, while collaborating with mechanical, process, and environmental teams to deliver multi‑disciplinary solutions.

We welcome Chartered engineers and professionals with experience across the project life cycle, from feasibility through to construction

Qualifications

• Demonstrable technical experience of pressurised and open‑channel hydraulics applied to civil engineering, including surge analysis, pipelines, and large drainage systems.
• Experience with surge analysis tools such as WANDA or Bentley Hammer.
• Proven ability to develop hydraulic calculations and profiles for water and wastewater treatment works.
• Experience leading technical projects and managing budgets.

Responsibilities

• Leading and delivering hydraulic analysis and design across potable and wastewater projects.
• Producing and reviewing calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Mentoring junior colleagues and providing technical guidance.
• Engaging with clients and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and budget control.
• Preparing time and budget estimates for proposals.
• Collaborating across disciplines to deliver projects efficiently.
• Maintaining professional development and adopting best practices.
