Job summary

Arup’s Water team in Sheffield focuses on stormwater and wastewater modelling to advise clients on flood risk and urban drainage. You will lead hydraulic modelling projects across the design process, using 1D/2D models and GIS to produce technical reports and business cases.

The role requires strong leadership, client management, and a drive to deliver nature-based, sustainable solutions. You will join a senior team delivering innovative, whole-process water projects for public and private

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering UK water projects with public and private sector clients and regulators.
• Experience with hydraulic modelling techniques in the UK water industry, using InfoWorks ICM and related tools.
• Engineering degree (or equivalent) with progress toward chartership.
• Strong project management skills covering scope, programme, budget and risk.
• Experience leading project teams and delivering client reports, scopes and business cases.
• Excellent client and stakeholder management and relationship building.
• Strong commercial awareness with monitoring of project performance and profitability.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Build and apply hydraulic models and extract results for design solutions.
• Use GIS to manipulate results, generate visuals and produce technical reports.
• Lead hydraulic modelling projects across the full design process.
• Guide development of technical reports and business cases and check calculations.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-disciplinary specialists.
• Deliver signals and analyses for risk assessment and water quality improvements.
