Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior/Principal Hydraulic Modeller to strengthen our hydraulic modelling and flood risk capability across the North. You will lead modelling strategies, assure technical quality and drive innovation in flood risk and infrastructure solutions for clients.

Alongside project delivery, you will shape our modelling capability, support work-winning activities and mentor junior engineers and modellers across major frameworks and significant infrastructure programmes.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in hydraulic modelling and flood risk assessment.
• Expertise in Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks or equivalent platforms.
• Solid understanding of UK flood risk policy, FCERM guidance and regulatory requirements.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing project delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder and client-facing skills.
• A passion for mentoring and developing others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, calibration and review of 1D and 2D hydraulic models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks or similar software.
• Act as Technical Lead on major flood risk and infrastructure projects.
• Provide expert advice to clients, project teams and stakeholders.
• Oversee hydrological assessments and flood risk studies.
• Ensure modelling outputs inform appraisal, business cases and engineering design.
• Manage project delivery, quality, budgets and programmes.
• Support bids and framework opportunities across the region.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, modellers and graduates.
• Contribute to technical innovation and best practice across the business.
