Job summary

Arup’s Water team is growing, offering a Senior or Principal Hydraulic Modeller the chance to strengthen our hydraulic modelling and flood risk capability across the North. You’ll lead complex 1D/2D studies, own modelling strategies and assure high quality outcomes for clients and projects from feasibility through to construction.

You'll shape our modelling capability, support bids and framework work, mentor junior engineers and modellers, and collaborate with stakeholders across Environment

Qualifications

• Expertise in hydraulic modelling and flood risk assessment.
• Experience with Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of UK flood risk policy and FCERM guidance.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing project delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder and client-facing skills.
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, calibration and review of 1D/2D hydraulic models.
• Act as Technical Lead on major flood risk projects.
• Provide expert advice to clients, project teams and stakeholders.
• Oversee hydrological assessments and flood risk studies.
• Ensure modelling outputs inform appraisal, business cases and engineering design.
• Manage project delivery, budgets and programmes.
• Support bids and framework opportunities across the region.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, modellers and graduates.
• Contribute to technical innovation and best practice across the business.
