Job summary

Arup seeks a Water Engineer/Hydraulic Modeller in Sheffield to build and apply hydraulic models, interpreting results to inform design solutions for stormwater and flood risk management. You will work within a team spanning Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham, using GIS to communicate risks and develop solutions for diverse clients including environment agencies and utilities.

The role requires experience with InfoWorks ICM or similar tools and a background in hydraulics, with

Qualifications

Experience delivering water projects in the UK with clients and regulators.
Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
Working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
Experience contributing to Flood Risk Assessments and/or Drainage Impact Assessments.
Experience with 1D–2D integrated catchment models.
Basic knowledge of 3D design software like AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

Deliver 1D–2D hydraulic modelling projects, including model build, calibration and validation.
Use hydraulic models to assess flood risk and water quality, including SuDS.
Develop stormwater management solutions from feasibility to detailed design.
Communicate risks using GIS terrain data and technical reports.
Mentor and support junior modellers and engineers across the team.
