Job summary

Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is seeking a maintenance professional to oversee heating, ventilation and mechanical services across the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory estate. You will drive safe, reliable operations and proactively manage maintenance regimes through the Estates Helpdesk.

You will install and commission systems, supervise colleagues and contractors, and ensure compliance with safety legislation. On-call responsibilities and on-site work at Harwell are required.

Qualifications

• Essential certificates for servicing and maintaining HVAC systems.
• Health and safety rules understood and applied.
• Basic CAFM system knowledge expected.
• Training in fluorinated gas handling and asbestos awareness.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning and mechanical services.
• Supervise junior staff and third-party contractors as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety and technical regulations.
• Develop maintenance regimes and manage through the Estates Helpdesk.
• Install, commission, fault-find and service mechanical building services.
• Attend training on future developments and technologies.
