Job summary

Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is hiring an Electrical Infrastructure Engineer authorised person at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell. The role focuses on safe operation of the high- and low-voltage electrical network across the STFC estate and coordinating with estates and technical teams.

You will implement safe systems of work, manage HV/LV assets, plan maintenance and renewals, and support audits. A strong engineering background and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds 2330 levels 2 and 3 (or equivalent).
• City and Guilds 2391/94/95 inspection and testing.
• City and Guilds 2382 18th IET Wiring Regulations (to the latest standard).
• Experience with electrical distribution systems on large campuses, universities, factories or MoD bases.
• Knowledge of safety legislation.
• Microsoft Office knowledge.
• On-call capability during silent hours.
• Understanding UK legislation hierarchy for electrical building services.
• Ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
• Flexible approach and excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement safe systems of work for all networks.
• Maintain safe and reliable operation of the site electrical distribution.
• Support management of power infrastructure assets and delineation of responsibilities.
• Ensure work complies with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Support technical training and succession planning.
• Assist audits of safe systems of work.
• Plan HV electrical maintenance and any necessary shutdowns.
• Keep schematics, labeling and safety information up-to-date.
