Job summary

Clancy in Basingstoke is seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join our team. As an SAP you will execute HV switching, isolation, earthing and system alterations on 33kV–132kV distribution networks, ensuring time-critical operations are completed safely and to schedule.

This role requires a proven SAP background within utilities, DNO authorisations, and strong knowledge of ring and radial networks, overhead lines and substations.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as an SAP within utilities/HV power contracting or client-side DNO.
• Hold or have held authorisations within UK DNOs within the last 12 months.
• Understanding of working under a DNO's control and switching systems.
• HNC in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline or demonstrable practical experience.
• Extensive knowledge of overhead lines, underground cabling, substations and equipment.
• Experience with ring and radial systems is preferable.
• Familiarity with National Model Distribution Safety Rules and interpretations.

Responsibilities

• Organise and execute HV switching, isolation, earthing and point of work up to 132kV.
• Prepare switching programs and system alteration forms.
• Ensure accurate execution of on-site schedules and issue safety documentation.
• Undertake spiking of HV cables and testing of plant.
• Provide technical support to construction teams.
• Maintain safety from the system and promote a positive working culture.
• Commission and operate electrical plant within substations.
• Plan scopes of work on behalf of clients.
