Job summary

The Best Connection is recruiting for a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to lead safe systems of work on HV substation sites, delivering switching, isolation and earthings under a permit-to-work regime in line with safety rules.

Based near Rickmansworth/Watford, the role requires current SAP authorisation on HV networks and proven experience on 11kV–132kV (up to 400kV advantageous). You will plan switching, issue RAMS, and coordinate with control rooms to ensure safe outages.

Qualifications

• Current SAP / Senior Authorised Person authorisation on at least one of SSEN, UKPN, NGED or NG.
• HV qualifications or HV experience on DNO/TO networks.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Act as SAP for HV switching operations up to 132kV / 400kV as authorised.
• Prepare and issue safety documentation—permits to work, sanctions for test, safety programmes.
• Plan switching schedules, isolation points and earthing.
• Establish and maintain safe systems of work; control site access and safety keys.
• Liaise with control rooms and client reps to coordinate access/outages.
• Review RAMS for HV activities and ensure compliance.
• Brief and supervise working parties under permit.
• Support testing/commissioning teams with isolations and earths.
• Maintain switching logs and safety records.
