Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Cable System Design Engineer to join their Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. You will lead HV/EHV cable design across feasibility, concept, detailed design, installation supervision and commissioning stages.

You will review complex cable systems, perform thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical analyses, and coordinate with civil, substation and OHL teams to ensure fully integrated solutions. AECOM emphasizes flexible hybrid working and professional growth.

Qualifications

FEED experience is essential.
Experience in HV/EHV transmission and distribution projects.
Ability to deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages.

Responsibilities

Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility to commissioning.
Review HV cable system designs including route development and burial risk assessments.
Undertake cable ratings and system studies (ampacity, short circuit, thermal stability).
Carry out cable pulling, jointing, cleating, and installation feasibility studies.
Collaborate with civil, structural, substations and OHL teams for integrated solutions.
Support FAT/SAT, installation and commissioning activities.
Interface with manufacturers, suppliers and contractors to verify IEC, CIGRÉ, NG-TPs standards.
Participate in client meetings and multidisciplinary workshops.
