AECOM is seeking experienced Senior Cable System Design Engineers to join our Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. You will deliver full lifecycle HV/EHV cable projects from feasibility through commissioning, collaborating with civil, substation and OHL teams to deliver integrated, compliant solutions.

Candidates should have FEED experience, a strong background in cable routing, durability analyses, and IEC/CIGRÉ/NG-TPs standards, with tools such as CYMCAP, WinCable, AutoCAD, Revit, GIS.

Qualifications

• Experience in Cable System Design Engineering for HV/EHV transmission and distribution projects with FEED experience.
• Knowledge of working within national and international standards (IEC, CIGRÉ, NG-TPs).
• Experience with cable manufacturing and testing; third-party inspection and verification.

Responsabilités

• Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility studies through detailed design, installation support, and commissioning.
• Review complex HV cable system designs including route development, burial risk assessments, and electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical calculations.
• Undertake cable rating and system studies (ampacity, short circuit forces, thermal stability, EMI).
• Carry out cable pulling, jointing, cleating, and installation feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, substation and OHL teams for integrated solutions.
• Conduct third-party inspections and support FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Interface with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors to verify IEC, CIGRÉ, NG-TPs compliance.
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, HAZID/HAZOPs, and multidisciplinary coordination.
