Job summary

TwoScore - HSEQ Recruitment is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead on a major infrastructure project in Dumfries. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on, site-based safety leadership across civil, electrical, and construction works.

You will collaborate with project leadership, construction teams and client stakeholders to strengthen safety culture, ensure compliance with CDM regulations, and deliver proactive safety improvements for the programme.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma Level 6 or equivalent required.
• GradIOSH or CMIOSH membership or working towards.
• Extensive experience on major construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK health and safety legislation.
• Proven auditing and incident investigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a proactive health and safety culture across the project.
• Ensure compliance with current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company standards.
• Provide expert health and safety advice to project managers, supervisors and operational teams.
• Develop, implement and regularly review health and safety management systems, procedures and project-specific plans.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and assurance activities, ensuring actions are tracked and closed.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure alignment with project requirements and standards.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
• Deliver clear and engaging health and safety briefings, inductions, training and awareness sessions.
• Produce and present health and safety performance reports and KPI data to senior stakeholders, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice across the project.
