Job summary

Specialist Mechanical Engineering Contractor in Slough is seeking aHealth & Safety Advisor to oversee safety on a major mechanical construction project. You will work with project managers, site managers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with UK safety laws and CDM Regulations, conducting inspections, RAMS reviews and safety briefings.

Applicants should have UK/Irish construction experience, a minimum of 3 years in a related role, and a recognised NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IOSH.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or HSE Officer role within the construction industry.
• Must have UK or Ireland construction experience; applicants without UK/Irish experience will not be considered.
• Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
• Recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IOSH.
• Experience carrying out site inspections, reviewing RAMS and managing safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular site safety inspections, audits and risk assessments on the Slough project.
• Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations and company safety procedures.
• Review RAMS before works commence.
• Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions and safety briefings.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure safe systems of work are implemented.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports and training documentation.
• Monitor high-risk activities including working at height, lifting operations, hot works and confined space activities.
• Attend site meetings and provide practical safety advice to management and subcontractors.
• Promote continuous improvement in health and safety standards throughout the project.
