Job summary

Hackney Council is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Licensing Officer to support the delivery of our Private Sector Housing Licensing Service. This fixed-term opportunity to lead and support a team ensures licensing schemes are delivered accurately and in line with legislative requirements.

The role reports to the Team Manager (Licensing Processing) and involves supervising Licensing Technical Officers, overseeing HMO and Selective Licensing applications, and providing technical advice to

Qualifications

• Experience processing housing licensing applications, including HMO and Selective Licensing.
• Experience supervising staff or supporting teams within a regulatory, housing or local authority environment.
• Strong knowledge of housing licensing legislation and regulatory processes.
• Relevant housing, regulatory or public administration qualifications or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day management of the Licensing Processing Team.
• Provide technical oversight and supervision to Licensing Technical Officers.
• Oversee processing and issuing of HMO and Selective Licensing applications.
• Provide technical advice to officers, landlords, tenants and residents.
• Monitor workloads, performance and service standards across the team.
