Job summary

GAC Education is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to deliver whole-class cover, PPA release, and targeted interventions across South Warrington and surrounding Cheshire areas, including Thelwall and Lymm.

You will lead on classroom management and tailored programmes for pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASC, or ADHD, while upholding safeguarding standards and supporting SENCOs and class teachers.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or substantial verifiable experience leading whole-class teaching and structured interventions in UK schools.
• Experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH needs.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to complete one) and safeguarding knowledge (KCSIE).
• Formal de-escalation training (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons and PPA cover in line with the national curriculum.
• Lead 1:1 and small-group interventions for pupils with EHCPs or special needs.
• Implement positive behaviour support and trauma-informed approaches.
• Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and school child protection policies.
