Job summary

Teaching Personnel are pleased to be supporting a welcoming primary school in Southport in their search for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from January 2027.

This small school prides itself on its close-knit community and strong relationships with families. The HLTA will deliver pre-planned lessons, support planning and delivery, run small-group interventions and assist pupils with SEND across KS1/KS2 in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent qualification is required.
• GCSE English and Mathematics grade C/4 or above or equivalent.
• Experience in a primary school environment is essential.
• Ability to lead whole-class activities independently.
• Strong understanding of the Primary National Curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in the absence of the class teacher.
• Support planning and delivery of engaging learning activities.
• Lead small-group and one-to-one interventions to support pupil progress.
• Work with teachers to meet the needs of all learners.
• Provide additional support for pupils with SEND.
