Job summary

Project Centre in Brighton is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to lead highway schemes from concept to delivery. You will mentor junior engineers, ensure design quality, and work with CAD/Civil 3D outputs in a hybrid role with three days per week in the office.

The role requires 5+ years in highways/civil engineering, a Civil Engineering degree, and good knowledge of DMRB standards. Chartered status or progression toward it is encouraged.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' relevant professional experience in highways or civil engineering.
• Degree, Master's, HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of highways engineering and DMRB standards.
• Expert level CAD skills.
• Competent user of Civil 3D.
• Experience in a professional engineering environment.
• Good commercial awareness and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage project tasks within budgets, timescales, and quality standards.
• Develop highways and civil engineering schemes from concept through to completion.
• Provide technical guidance to assistant and junior engineers.
• Check outputs produced by junior team members.
• Oversee design elements including AutoCAD and Civil 3D deliverables.
• Support preparation of estimates and proposals for new work.
• Coordinate project delivery across multiple design teams.
• Maintain quality and address issues with effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS).
• Develop personal Training Plan to continue developing skills.
