Job summary

Project Centre is seeking a Senior Highway Structures Engineer to join its expanding engineering team, delivering innovative designs on highway structures across the UK and mentoring junior staff.

You'll work on concept to detailed designs, review calculations, and manage budgets and client relationships while upholding CDM and safety standards in a collaborative, career‑progression driven environment.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working towards chartership.
• Around 5+ years' highway structures or bridge engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete bridge design and assessment.
• Proven experience delivering highway bridge and civil structures projects.
• Good knowledge of DMRB and MCHW standards.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience reviewing and checking technical work.
• Commercial awareness including NEC contracts, budgets and programmes.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and health & safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Delivering concept, preliminary and detailed highway structure designs.
• Producing and checking engineering calculations, technical reports and drawings.
• Carrying out complex structural analysis and reviewing the work of junior engineers.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to developing team members.
• Managing project budgets, programmes and delivering work to targets.
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Attending client meetings and representing Project Centre professionally.
• Planning and undertaking site inspections and structural investigations.
• Supporting the implementation of CDM responsibilities and promoting best practice.
