Job summary

Caerphilly County Borough Council is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Highway Structures team. You will oversee inspection, maintenance and improvement of highway structures, lead remedial and new structural designs, and supervise construction works across the county borough.

The role involves financial management of projects, monitoring fees and budgets, with mentoring and professional development opportunities within the council. An ICE qualification pathway is available.

Qualifications

• CQFW level 4/5/6 qualification (HNC or Civil Engineering degree)
• Knowledge of standards, manuals and codes of practice for inspection of highway structures
• Full UK Category B driving licence and access to vehicle for county-wide inspections

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and improve highway structures across the county borough.
• Lead design of remedial works and new structural projects; supervise construction works.
• Manage project finances including fees, expenditure and budgets; provide project reporting and governance.
