Job summary

Sweco UK Limited is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead highways projects from inception to handover in Leeds. You will manage design work, mentor junior staff and liaise with clients to deliver safe, sustainable solutions.

The role supports flexible working with 3 days in the office and adaptable start/finish times, offering opportunities across national and regional schemes and a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required or equivalent.
• IEng or working towards is desirable.
• Leadership experience in highways projects preferred.
• Experience with DMRB/LTN 1/20 and related design standards.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead significant elements of the conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of highways work, including drawings, specifications, reports and calculations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, sustainable solutions.
• Ensure deliverables meet agreed timescales and budgets.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand needs and provide expert advice.
• Prepare and review technical reports, feasibility studies and design documentation.
• Drive technical excellence across projects.
