Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Engineer in Exeter to lead day‑to‑day technical delivery of highway consultancy services across the project lifecycle, from feasibility to construction. You will work on complex schemes with Local Authorities, National Highways and other clients.

The role requires Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status with proven experience in road design, drainage and related disciplines, strong client facing skills, and the ability to manage budgets and teams while adhering to design

Qualifications

Chartered Civil Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with post‑qualification experience.
Experience leading highway design projects through feasibility, concept design, planning, detailed design and construction.
Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary input and client relationships in highway projects.
Knowledge of design codes such as DMRB/Manual for Streets and preparation of contract drawings.

Responsibilities

Lead day‑to‑day technical delivery of highway consultancy services across the project lifecycle.
Coordinate multi‑disciplinary input on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, proactively managing expectations.
Undertake design leadership and reviews, and support tender and fee proposals.
Lead and mentor staff in delivery of drawings, details, specifications and bill of quantities.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and quality standards and processes.
