Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Engineer to join the Roads team in Truro. You will lead day-to-day technical delivery of highway consultancy services from feasibility through to construction, while maintaining client relationships and guiding multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires Chartered Civil Engineer level experience, strong knowledge of road design codes, and proficiency with Civils 3D/OpenRoads. It is a client-facing, senior-position within a growing team.

Qualifications

Experience leading highway design and/or drainage schemes across lifecycle stages.
Proven track record delivering road/highway projects for local or national clients.
Experience in contract documents, administration, or site supervision.
Proficient with Civils 3D/OpenRoads/InfoDrainage and related design tools.
Strong communication and stakeholder management, ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Manage projects ensuring coordination of multi-disciplinary input across varying scales and values.
Liaise with clients, build trusted relationships, manage expectations, provide advice.
Act as technical lead and reviewer on projects.
Support team members to maximise contributions to goals.
Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets.
