Job summary

The Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer role within the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, advertised through Government Recruitment Service, focuses on assessing complex heavy vehicle applications to ensure compliance with DVSA standards and legislation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical environment with heavy vehicle applications.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and DVSA guidelines.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for both first test and vehicle conversion, checking reports and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance.
• Undertake assessment of applications of approved vehicles via the ECWVTA teams.
• Provide technical support to non-technical processing teams and act as advisory service to front line staff, operators, manufacturers, trade organisations, other agencies as well as the public on various DVSA topics.
• Investigate possible solutions to solve issues or mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with the Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and developing new requirements and standards.
• Communicate positively with internal and external customers to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and concise responses via technical inbox.
• Provide support to the Heavy Vehicle Processing Manager, representing DVSA at trade events and carrying out ad hoc tasks.
