Job summary

Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker in the Adult Emergency Department at St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey. The role involves direct patient care, vital signs, and multi-disciplinary support in a busy ED.

Flexibility across long days, nights, weekends and holidays is required; part-time options (minimum 23 hours) are available. Full right to work in the UK is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a health care support worker in an acute setting.
• Having successfully achieved the Care Certificate.
• GCSE Maths and English.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct patient care including meeting hygiene, continence, nutrition, pressure area care and mobility needs.
• Taking and recording patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition.
• Providing one to one observation for high-risk or vulnerable patients.
• Undertaking ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation training as applicable.
• Escorting patients to departments such as x-ray.
• Transferring patients needing admission to a ward and managing patient property.
• Keeping the department and equipment clean and stocked.
• Training and supporting new and junior colleagues.
